The Mission Position brings the best comedians to the Alamo Drafthouse theater for a live comedy show that provides club-level talent without a drink minimum. Hosted by two of San Francisco’s most accomplished comedians, Adrian McNair and Irene Tu (featured on Viceland, KQED, Seeso, SF Sketchfest and Bridgetown Comedy Festival). Every month The Mission Position puts together a new lineup of special guests that include the Bay Area’s brightest comics alongside nationally touring headliners from NBC, TBS, E! and Comedy Central.
Los Angeles is my home but I tour all the time. Vans Warped Tour, Fest, SXSW, The Hollywood Improv, SF Sketchfest, The Bridgetown Comedy Festival and your basement are just a few of the places I’ve done stand-up. In 2016, I was chosen as a New Face at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Time Out Los Angeles named me as one of their 2017 Comics to Watch. I am always afraid.
On top of doing stand-up, I make stuff. That’s what I love to do. I make sketches on my own and with my sketch group WOMEN, some of which you may have seen on IFC or Comedy Central. I’m the host of Nerdist’s Terrified podcast and for a time co-hosted Nerdist’s Sex Nerd Sandra podcast. I’ve done standup on Comedy Central’s This is Not Happening and Hulu’s Coming to the Stage. I made a short film called Number 5 and I created that campaign sign/t-shirt that says IDK NOT TRUMP THO 2016. I was interviewed on WTF with Marc Maron, I’ve won the Moth a bunch of times and I once got drunk on Drunk History.
Featuring: Mateen Stewart (Jimmy Kimmel Live!)
Mateen Stewart is one to watch in the Los Angeles comedy circuit! Originally from Detroit, recently voted the most miserable city in America by Forbes Magazine (Mateen hates Forbes Magazine), he attended Florida A&M University where he majored in Theatre. It only took him 5 years and he now uses his degree as emergency toilet paper. He has appeared in several screen roles working with the likes of Ben Stiller, Ken Marino and Ron Hubel. He has played the token Black Guy in a National McDonald’s commercial and has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Last Week Tonight. Mateen is a founding member of the Wellspoken Comedy Tour and has participated in SF Sketchfest, SLC Comedy Carivale, Women in Comedy Festival and the San Diego Comedy Festival.
Featuring: Josef Anolin (SF Sketchfest, Punch Line)
Josef Anolin was born and raised in Oakland, CA thanks to his parents.
Josef likes to tell jokes that offer audiences fresh perspectives on “hot button” issues like race, class, gender that are simultaneously respectful and tounge in cheek offensive. Josef has been peddling his humor to audiences throughout the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Oregon, Nevada, Hawaii and may have been the first comedian to do a joke about NY Knicks Point Guard, Jeremy Lin (albeit back in 2010 when he was still a Golden State Warrior and irrelevant).
