Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite.

The Mission Position is a popular independent comedy showcase, hosted by four of San Francisco’s most accomplished comedians – Matt Lieb, Kate Willett, Jessica Sele, & Torio Van Grol. Every Thursday, audiences fill Lost Weekend Video’s famous CineCave comedy den, for a show that provides club-level talent without irritating drink minimums or filler comics. The Mission Position welcomes a new lineup of special guests every week that include the Bay Area’s brightest comics alongside nationally touring headliners from NBC, TBS, E! and Comedy Central.

This Weeks Guests:

Casey Ley

Casey-Ley1Casey Ley’s comedy is silly. And smart. And dirty. And dark. And handsome. It’s a lot like him actually. So it is also self-centered, flakey and relatively promiscuous.  The readers of SF Weekly voted him best comic in San Francisco in 2012 (which had nothing to do with his homosexuality), and in 2013 he was runner-up in The Advocate Magazine’s Next Great Queer Comedy competition (which was wholly the result of his homosexuality). Apparently he wasn’t quite gay enough last year.  In 2014 he kicked it up a notch and headlined the Rainbow Connection Queer Comedy Tour or as it was described in a slightly homophobic review, “the gaygegaygaygegaygay comedy tour.”

His sarcastic sense of humor and hilarious ability to share and examine his real life experiences, makes him a favorite in the bay area by both audiences & fellow comics alike. He has also graced the stage at venues such as The Comedy Store & The San Jose Improv.

George Chen

george chenGeorge Chen was a musician, writer, and event organizer before finding a place in standup comedy. As an upstart producer, Chen put on comedy shows on a moving bus at Occupy Oakland, at still-life drawing classes, and inside a comic book store. These attempts to put on comedy in unlikely locations lead to the weekly showcase Cynic Cave at Lost Weekend Video in San Francisco and the monthly multimedia show Talkies (which has also traveled to LA and the Berkeley Art Museum).

George has performed at Holy Fuck, SF Sketchfest, SF Comedy and Burrito Festival, The Business, The Put Your Hands Together Podcast, Marin Headlands Center for the Arts, Contemporary Jewish Museum, The Porchlight Storytelling Series, and SFMoMA.

He has hosted shows and shared stages with Ben Kronberg, Andres Du Bouchet, Aparna Nancherla, W. Kamau Bell, Karen Kilgariff, Cameron Esposito, Johnny Pemberton, Kate Berlant, and Erik Charles Nielsen.

He had a small part as an INS agent in the short sci-fi film Mindglow and appeared in an episode of HBO’s Looking.
