The Mission Position is a popular independent comedy showcase, hosted by four of San Francisco’s most accomplished comedians – Matt Lieb, Kate Willett, Jessica Sele, & Torio Van Grol. Every Thursday, audiences fill Lost Weekend Video’s famous CineCave comedy den, for a show that provides club-level talent without irritating drink minimums or filler comics. The Mission Position welcomes a new lineup of special guests every week that include the Bay Area’s brightest comics alongside nationally touring headliners from NBC, TBS, E! and Comedy Central.

DJ Real

dj realNick Stargu is a musician, comedian, and writer who is best known for his musical comedy act, DJ REAL, which has been featured in the San Francisco Sketch Festival, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the San Francisco Comedy Competition, and more. And he’s opened for Devo!
DJ REAL’s show has all original songs, complete with costume changes, bad dance moves, and interactive multimedia.

Nick also performs as Imaginary Radio with comedy partner, Drennon Davis. They have performed at SXSW, SF Sketchfestand the Funny or Die Oddball Festival. Nick is currently working on the release of his fifth DJ REAL studio album, “They’ll Say Yes!”.

Irene Tu

irene tuIrene Tu is a stand-up comic, writer, and performer from Chicago, now living in the Bay Area. Some have described her as “sarcastic” but she just tells it like it is. She has been in SF Sketchfest, Limestone Comedy Festival, Cape Fear Comedy Festival, She-Devil Comedy Festival, Chicago Women’s Funny Festival, and was a finalist in Rooftop Comedy’s National College Comedy Competition. She co-produces Laugh Function every Saturday 8:30pm at Pappy’s in Berkeley. You can follow her @irene_tu.

George Gordon

george gordonGeorge Gordon is a Brooklyn based comedian with a kind of low-key, measured delivery — perfect for conveying his particular brand of anecdotal humor. Here he talks about the concept of well-known musicians doing DJ sets and trying out a new pick-up line with unexpected results, among other things.

Kelly Anneken

kelly annekenKelly Anneken is what happens when Kim Kardashian looks like Bette Midler and tweets like Roseanne.  This Oakland-based funny person and all-around swell gal performs standup comedy and is a regular at the Punch Line San Francisco, Cobb’s and Rooster T. Feathers. Kelly has appeared at Iowa’s Green Gravel Comedy Festival and Boston’s Women in Comedy Festival. She has shared a stage with Jim Gaffigan and Anthony Jeselnik at Austin’s Moontower Comedy Festival and has appeared “in conversation” with Tig Notaro, Amy Schumer, John Waters, and Carey Elwes. Her debut comedy release “Twenty Minutes to Sell” is available wherever digital recordings are sold.

Kelly is well-known as the co-host of the internationally popular Downton Abbey podcast “Up Yours, Downstair.” She is also executive director for feminist sketch troupe Femikaze and managing editor of online humor journal Hobo Pancakes.  Her writing has also been published by The Mary Sue, KQED Pop, and The Tusk.
